Published by Gadgetme September 9th, 2008 in Cables, Gadget and USB.I bought the Easy Cap USB adapter to convert my old VHS videos to DVD. It was somewhat of a hoop dream because I got it, finally figured out how to work it, then realized I was too lazy to bother recording all my VHS videos
But if you aren’t lazy like me, here’s a little bit of information that I learned that may help you with yours:
The drivers cause a few problems in Windows XP. I am a mac os x leopard owner.
There is a DC60 version which works in Windows and a newer DC60+ that has software for a mac. I bought this not knowing there was a mac version but got this to work on bootcamp. This is a DC60.
You need to compress video using DIVX Codex 6.8 on 1st pass. Also, the included software DOESNT work, but amCap v9.2 is free and works great. So you should probably download this and just give up with the crap CD they give you.

I would get this if you are savvy on downloading drivers and want to save 20 bucks. amCap v9.2 is free software and takes some trial and error to get things working. At first I thought I’d cry and be so frustrated trying to figure out how to get things to work in windows again after using a mac for so long, but it wasn’t overly difficult. I also thought I’d give a little demonstation, I’ve been told I have sexy hands. So enjoy.

3 CommentsOlympus stylus under water camera shoots panorama
Published by Gadgetme September 9th, 2008 in Memory.I was pretty choaked that after buying my Olympus Stylus 850sw underwater camera that I would have to buy a special almost extinct XD memory card in order to use the panorama function. So I bought a rip off instead.
Basically the camera is programmed to take panorama shots ONLY if you have the olympus brand memory card, and this card worked, so it must be Olympus. Right?
Well who knows, it works and that’s all that mattered to me really. I did buy another memory card, see below, as the XD cards really only get up to 2GB which seems to be enough for now but you never know. I’ve included one of my videos of what this thing looks like, it actually comes with a pretty cool case for it inside as well.

Kingston Micro SD 2GB Memory card holds more than memory
Published by Gadgetme September 9th, 2008 in Gadget and Memory.Well, again I got a deal, for under 10 dollars I bought a 2GB memory card for my camera. I don’t use the adapter but it came with one to convert it to a regular sized SD memory card. It transfers fast and is a good brand name. They come in larger sizes but make sure your camera can handle the larger capacity. Not many people can handle mine. If you know what I’m saying.

0 CommentsRead every memory card for under 5 bucks, at the same time
Published by Gadgetme September 9th, 2008 in Gadget and USB.Well, once again if someone tells me a pear tastes good, I have to taste it for myself.
Someone told me I could get a good quality memory card reader for under 5 dollars and it not be a piece of crap. So I bought it.

Well, not only does it read all my memory cards but it can do it at the same time. One thing it doesn’t do is look awesome. So I hide it in my draw with my other crap. Yes, if its under 5 dollars I still have to classify it as crap. It feels good quality which still has me really confused. It reads fast which makes me wonder how those crooks can try charging people 50 dollars for the same thing in stores.
