The Sun Jar is one of coolest night lights we’ve seen. Tiny solar panels inside the lid charge it during the day and make it glow all night. The jar also has a silk coating which makes it feel extra soft to touch. Those little details get this gadget a glowing review.

Another impressive feature of the Sun Jar is it’s ability to fade in and fade out rather than just turn off or on. It’s basically a dimmer switch that replicates a sunset and sunrise. The milk light is a PVC cup that emits a soothing white glow via a single LED. A cool feature of this night light is the on/off switch. To turn it off, simply turn the cup upside down and presto! – the light goes out. Also,  because it uses a low powered LED, it’s sure to light up when you need it the most.

Introducing the GlowBrick. It’s a night light. Sorta.

The contents?

A clear acrylic brick containing a real light bulb filled with that magical glow-in-the-dark substance. Remember those little stars you’d stick on your ceiling as a kid? Well it’s not like that at all.

It’s BETTER!

You don’t actually have to hold this up to a light for 30 seconds only to watch it slowly fade 10 seconds later. It actually takes all day to absorb the light. You can achieve a similar affect when asking a man to take out the trash.

It takes some time.

I was skeptical about this brick thing at first, but this is the real deal. It recharges during the day, with the dense glow-in-the-dark matter it actually can sustain a nice bright glow all night long (about 7 hours). Depending on the brightness of the room, however. I kept it in a fairly dark room all day long and it still glowed at night. The room is kept dark because that’s how I roll.

And also by keeping a dark room I can avoid cleaning for months at a time.

Here’s a great shot of the bulb right after lights out. Really impressive. I’m banking on the sun being around for awhile, so with a night light like this, you can’t go wrong.

Unless of course the sun disappears. Then we have bigger things to worry about.
